Two teens are dead and another victim is in critical condition Thursday after a shooting at a Southern California high school, NBC Los Angeles reports. Police and firefighters responded to Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, about 40 miles north of LA, around 7:30am, KTLA reports.

The deceased students are a boy, 14, and a girl, 16; per CNN, four other other teens are hospitalized with injuries, including a male student in critical condition.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says there is only one suspect, a male student at the school who just turned 16 today; he was taken to the hospital after shooting himself in the head with his handgun and is in grave condition.
