Athletics still unsure if Kyler Murray will report to spring training, report saysSporting News — (Kirstie Chiappelli)
Oakland is losing confidence in Kyler Murray.
Athletics general manager David Forst on Sunday confirmed the team still doesn't know if or when the former Oklahoma double threat will report to spring training, according to ESPN.
Murray told NFL Network last month he will decided whether to play professional baseball or football "very soon," though his time to pledge playing in MLB is running out.
Murray is one of the top prospects of the 2019 NFL Draft but has already committed to playing for the A's. Oakland selected Murray with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft and gave him a $4.66 million signing bonus, though the Heisman Trophy winner would have to give back most or all of it if he opts to pursue football instead.
Oakland's pitchers and catchers are scheduled to hold their first workout of spring training Monday, with position players slated to report Friday.
