All the burglars use the same audacious tactics: A vehicle crashes through a storefront in the wee hours and up to six people in dark clothing and ski masks pour out, grabbing whatever they can with the speed of a NASCAR pit crew. Since September, at least a dozen "crash-and-grab" burglaries have been reported at retail businesses in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.

BATAVIA #x2013; A Chicago man will be sentenced next month after pleading guilty to felony armed violence in connection with an armed robbery in January at the Batavia Pantry on East Wilson Street. Antwann L. Hunt, 28, recently pleaded guilty to felony armed violence in the Jan. 25 robbery.

America began as a largely rural country, and it could be that the Founding Fathers, to the extent they gave privacy a thought, figured that in the towns and villages they hailed from everyone knew everybody's business anyway. The Constitution they wrote doesn't mention privacy.

Gossip Wolf has seen goofy, glammy Chicago four-piece MTVghosts slay at a slew of local shows - and last weekend the self-proclaimed "dreampunk" band dropped Tri-Pop , a free eight-song album, via Bandcamp. This wolf thinks the hooky "She's Really Mine" and "Apology" have more than a passing resemblance to Todd Rundgren's mid-70s AM radio-style pop.

If you're a nihilist-and it's hard not to be one around here-these are your glory days as mayoral candidates attempt to throw each other off the ballot for violating this or that absurdly onerous and arbitrarily enforced election ballot access laws .
